Can’t leave home? Now what?

Ok so breaking it down you know you just need to stay home to keep yourself and others safe. Have you ordered food and household supplies you may need?

First get prepared!

You want to make sure you have a few weeks of anything you would need at home. And remember you are home ALL day so you will be eating all of your snacks and meals at home. Don’t forget the tylenol, first aid items, and tissues just in case. Delivery services will be your best friend now!

Some of my favorites are below. *I am not paid for any of these recommendations; they are simply the services that I personally find most useful.

  • Instacart ($99 per year)- You can deliver to any location in the US! You will be able to access stores local to the delivery address. I was able to use this one to have groceries and supplies delivered to my dad on the other end of the country!
  • Amazon Prime ($99 per year) -This one includes additional benefits like amazon books, streaming tv and movies, music and more!
  • Target (no charge!) – Target now delivers groceries and also offers drive-up orders

Then you want to think about things you can do to entertain yourself.

  • Is there a book you have wanted to read?
  • A closet you have been meaning to organize? (Come on, we can all organize something!) *** Hey, also a great way to entertain the kids! Anyone who says the word bored gets to clean something! Hehe 😀 Just don’t forget to give the kids rewards as well. They will hate you at the end of just 1 week if they were stuck cleaning or doing homework the entire time.photo of man cleaning table
  • Maybe even an online class you wanted to take?
  • These bigger long term goals you may not have gotten to are perfect when you are stuck at home!
  • Listen to music – Music is so therapeutic! Just WAIT – one big tip I have for you is to listen to music that matches the way you WANT to feel, not the way you ARE currently feeling. This way you avoid feeling more depressed because you are listening to the sappy song or feel ready to punch the wall because you turned on your favorite amped song. (Same applies with movies or shows – aim for how you WANT to feel, not how you ARE feeling.)pexels-photo-3768918
  • Exercise! You don’t need weights – just use those canned goods! Follow a video online or a movie or show to get some guidance if you need. And as long as they are saying its safe to go outside, do it! Run, walk, jog, and get some FRESH AIR!
  • TALK – Give your friends and family a call! And challenge yourself to find things to talk about OTHER than the Coronavirus. Make it a game even! You and your friends will feel more calm, at peace, and have fun!

  • Play cards or board games with everyone in the house 🙂 Remember how Go Fish goes? I Spy? Monopoly? Dominos? It’s more fun than you remember, I promise!
  • Practice Mindfulness! *Message me for easy mindfulness techniques that can work for anyone, anywhere!
  • Do something artistic! Paint, color, draw, go to town!! Let your emotions flow through your art!
  • FREE options are there! You can always watch Youtube videos on your phone, iPad, computer, or TV.
    • Free Yoga on Youtube
    • Guided Meditations
    • Learn “how to” just about anything!
    • Watch funny videos
    • Re-runs or highlights of your favorite shows or videos
    • Even listen to college professors teaching interesting classes!

We often complain that there aren’t enough hours in the day. We just don’t have time to focus on ourselves, relax, or enjoy things. Well NOW you have the TIME! Take advantage and recognize that positive.

I am not diminishing the severity of this pandemic. There is no possible way to do that!! However we do not need to allow our mental health to go down the drain with everything else.
