Coronavirus Anxiety!

Hello everyone!

As we are all hearing more and more about the COVID-19 virus it is spiking a great deal of fear. One can not say that your fear is valid or invalid. Especially when New York has declared a state of emergency and reports many confirmed cases! The national guard has been called to New Rochelle. On Long Island we have several school closings, universities and businesses moving to classes and work from home. I myself just made a difficult decision to cancel my son’s 2nd birthday party at Chuck E Cheese.

  1. Remember to breathe! Deep Breathing is key in relaxation and stress management. Try to breathe in for 4 seconds through the nose, and out for 4 seconds through the mouth. It is helpful to focus your thoughts on your intention such as being relaxed.

  2. Follow all health care advisories. If you are following CDC recommended precautions such as washing your hands, avoiding being around those who are sick or staying away from elderly people when you are sick then you are doing your part! As long as you follow trusted recommendations you and those around you should be safe!

  3. Avoid social media posts or shared info – make sure you are listening to a trusted source. Here are some trusted resources for you!
  4. Use your personal positive coping skills that have helped you manage stress before. This could be listening to music, yoga, talking a walk, journaling, talking to a supportive friend, meditating, or taking a bubble bath! Remember no one can tell you what makes you feel good. Stay positive and use healthy coping skills that work for you!woman in gray sweatshirt wearing headphone listening to music
