Alyssa Loftus, MSW Intern

Therapist

Alyssa works with adults, adolescents, and children in our Melville, NY office.

Alyssa believes in the power of human connection and creating a space where every client feels seen, valued, and supported. With a warm, approachable style and a natural ability to build relationships, she helps children, teens, and adults feel comfortable being themselves while working through challenges, developing greater self-understanding, and building confidence.

Alyssa is completing her Master of Social Work at the University at Buffalo. Before entering the mental health field, she spent six years as an elementary and middle school music teacher. Her extensive experience working closely with children and adolescents gives her a unique understanding of the social, emotional, academic, and developmental challenges young people may face. She has also worked with neurodivergent youth, individuals with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Alyssa works with children, teens, and adults experiencing anxiety, social anxiety, ADHD and neurodiversity, low self-esteem, identity concerns, life transitions, relationship challenges, and everyday stress. She is particularly passionate about helping young people develop a stronger sense of self, better understand their emotions, and build skills they can carry with them as they grow.

Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, person-centered, and individualized to each client. She incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and solution-focused techniques while recognizing that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Her style is warm, supportive, collaborative, and goal-focused.

Clients can expect to be met with empathy, curiosity, and even a little humor. Alyssa strives to create an environment where all parts of a person are welcome, including the parts that may feel difficult to understand or talk about. She encourages clients to approach themselves with greater compassion while developing practical tools for managing challenges and moving toward their goals.
